Dance Camp!

The 2011-12 HMS Flygirls Dancers
had a FANTASTIC time at MA Dance Camp
from July 6-8 at
Georgia State University in Atlanta!

DAY ONE

We started BRIGHT & EARLY,
meeting at school at 6A.M.
The girls were tired, but ready to go!
We loaded up the cars and were on the road by 6:30A.M.!

We arrived at camp, ate some lunch, checked into our dorm rooms,
and got ready
to get our day started!
The girls were all very excited and eager to start learning routines.
The girls learned two dances after lunch on the first day,
a hip hop dance and a pom dance!
They worked hard and then went to dinner.

On the way back,
a couple of our third year dancers
claimed their own "little sisters!"
When we got back, we had a little bit of down time,
and then got together for some team building activities
and camp games!
After games, the girls went back and practiced until about 9:30P.M.
We went upstairs and got ready for lights out by 10:30P.M.,
since day two would start at 6A.M.!

DAY TWO

We chose Cheyenne to carry our spirit stick,
since she was the first one out and ready on the second day!

The girls were excited to get day two started,
but were a little sleepier than the first day!
The girls started off by getting really warmed up and stretched,
because they would be learning and dancing LOTS more
than the day before!
The girls learned three routines on day two,
which included a lyrical jazz dance,
a pep rally hip hop dance,
and our custom kick line routine!

They were EXHAUSTED,
but still got together and worked hard
during their team building games at the end of the day!

DAY THREE

Day three started off with a very tired group of girls!

After dancing and moving from 6:30A.M. to 10P.M. for two days in a row,
they were feeling a little less peppy,
but were still troopers, ready and eager to learn their final routine,
and compete their hip hop in Grand Champions
at the end of the day!

We chose Courtney to carry the spirit stick on day three,
because of her hard work and positive attitude!
Our returning 8th graders learned a SUPER HARD (level FOUR!)
lyrical dance, while the rest of the team learned another
hip hop routine.

Before lunch, they were sure to get a picture with their camp instructors,
Sarah ("Starky"), Allie, and Sarah Kercho!
We headed back to the dorms after lunch to start packing,
change, and practice for the final Grand Champions competition.
Before we headed up, we were sure to pose for a picture
with our cute camp bags!
The girls all changed into their new teal tanks
and jazz pants
and practiced before heading down to the Grand Championships!
Several girls won ribbons throughout camp,
and Caitlyn was awarded a medal on day three
for her hard work, positive attitude,
and great dancing all three days!

The girls were also sure to get a photo with their new friends,
the awesome dancers from Ramsey High School
in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Flygirls performed their hip hop dance
from day one to "She Hot,"
and did a great job!
They were able to celebrate by bringing home
a Superior Team Trophy from camp!
The HMS Flygirls did great, and look forward to sharing
all their new routines from camp
this season at HMS football and basketball games!
