Basketball Pom Routine

The girls were able to take the

routine they learned for the

UTC Mocs

halftime performance

and turn it into a

pom routine for basketball season!

They did a great job with it!

HMS Flygirls taught elementary students some dance moves!

The HMS Flygirls

were invited to Wallace A. Smith Elementary's

annual SOCK HOP

to help teach dance moves to the kindergarten-2nd graders!

The girls had a great time,

and the elementary kids seemed to be having

a ball too!

Some of their HMS classmates got in on the fun too,

dressing like 50s dancers,

complete with poodle skirts!

They taught the kids how to

TWIST (click for video)....

and the LOCAMOTION (click for video)

was also a HUGE hit!

The girls were great role models,

and their hard work and enthusiasm

was greatly appreciated!

Great job, Flygirls!

First basketball game!

The Flygirls did a GREAT job

performing their hip hop routine

at the first home basketball game last night!

They had a lot of fun, and the crowd

really enjoyed their performance!

Family Fun Night!

The dancers had a great time

working together with the cheerleaders

to pull off a Grease-themed

Family Fun Night

pep rally!

The cheerleaders were very Sandy-esque

in their retro looks, while the dancers

made excellent Pink Ladies!

The girls did the HAND JIVE,

GREASE LIGHTNIN',

and a few sidelines to

PUMP UP the crowd!

They did such a great job!

UTC Spirit Day

The HMS Flygirls,

along with 8 other teams from the area,

got to perform at the UTC Mocs football halftime yesterday!

They practiced and practiced before the game...

But still made time for some silly photo sessions too....

They were so excited to finally get to go on the field with their

UTC cheerleader!

They even made time for a photo session on the field

with their coaches!

The girls had a great time,

and did a great job!

The Flygirls had a great time

first HMS home game this week!

The girls did such a great job,

and their smallest fan had a great time

cheering them on!

Summer Fun!

The FLYGIRLS are continuing to have

LOTS of fun this summer...

It's hard to believe it's almost time for school to begin!

We have had guest teachers,

dance camp,

technique classes,

and more!

We even treated ourselves to some

Bruster's ICE CREAM

after a long, hard day of work at dance camp!

As usual, we were a little serious...

... But also a little bit silly!

At any rate, we are having LOTS of fun, and can't wait for

August to hurry up and get here,

so we can PERFORM

at our first home football game!

Come out and support us...

Lyrical Jazz Fusion Class

We had so much fun last Monday

as we all took a lyrical jazz fusion class

from Cornelius, our hip hop choreographer!

It was fun for all of us to learn something new

and dance together in a class!

Ms. Christy, Mallory, and Lauren even took the class

with the team!

Next, Cornelius will be working with us to set our

We are very excited and can't wait to get to work!

Summer has begun!

The 2010-11 Hunter Middle Flygirls have officially kicked off

summer practice time!

They had a great time this past week learning

their new routines from two of my favorite, fun,

STATE CHAMPION dancers from the

Heritage High 5 Stars,

Mallory & Lauren!

Though we all had fun, and were even a bit silly at times,

the girls worked very hard and got lots accomplished!

To celebrate all the hard work, and the kickoff of our summer,

a few of us were able to get together at one of our favorite local spots,

Fox Cay Restaurant in Harrison, TN!

Of course, we took one serious picture...

And one silly picture!

We're already getting off to a great start this summer!

Our next adventure together will be a lyrical jazz fusion class from our

hip hop choreographer, Cornelius Heard!

Summer Practices

Summer practices are OFFICIALLY beginning this week!

We are excited to start our camp this week at

Massari-Wood Dance Studio,

under the instruction of two STATE CHAMPION dancers,

Lauren Beasley and Mallory Hope!

Please remember that we need your updated medical release forms (dated post-5/1/10) as soon as possible, and preferably by next Monday, May 17th!
These can be turned in at the front office and placed in either Ms. Jenna Johnson's mailbox or in the dance mailbox.
If you are sending this from an elementary school, please send via HCDE pony to either of our attention.
